Alexandria Virginia

As a person looks outside, a series of vibrant and repainted town houses fill the streets to form a beautiful blend of colors. With this set of houses comes a beloved tavern for social gatherings. And with these social gatherings come wondrous memories that remain with each person included to it. Then flashback two hundred and sixty years into the past, the town houses were first being painted, the taverns first being constructed, and the social gatherings only beginning to grow. The City of Virginia is best known for “Old Town” which is the longest standing section of Alexandria places itself in the pages of history after being first established in 1749. Turning the page a few numbers back reveals the settlement first beginning as a British colony designed to perform a comprehensive inspection of the area’s tobacco supply. The colony’s leader, Captain Philip Alexander II and his wishes to erect his estate at what is now south of present Duke Street led to the imminent naming of the town as Alexandria in honor of his family.

More recent Alexandria facts include it being mostly populated by professionals working for the federal government as part of the civil service, United States military, or one of the many Alexandria companies.

To the naked eye, the City of Alexandria may not seem to have much to offer however this is again proven not enough to observe Alexandria’s many wonders.
